Anise, also known as Aniseed, is a herbaceous annual flowering plant of the Apiaceae family, native to the east Mediterranean and southwest Asia. It grows up to 3 feet tall with long feathery foliage and small but dense white flowers approximately 3mm in diameter. The fruits are 3 to 5mm long oblong schizocarps (seed pods); these are what are known as aniseed.
