Pernod has put almost two hundred years of know-how into the launch (in fact re-launch) of Pernod Absinthe, reviving and updating a recipe that brought fame to the Pernod name at the beginning of the 19th century. Like the original, Pernod Absinthe is 68% alcohol by volume (136 proof) and contains no sugar. There are rumors (still to be confirmed) that Pernod Absinthe has now ceased production again, defeated this time not by legislation but by market forces.
